LITERACY GROUPS

Our highly structured Literacy Groups are designed to help children develop strong literacy skills in reading, writing, and spelling. Lessons follow the science of reading and heavily incorporate the evidence-based programs of Sounds-Write and Heggerty.

WHY CHOOSE EXPLICIT LITERACY INSTRUCTION?

Explicit literacy instruction provides a foundation for students to anchor their reading and writing skills. All lessons use a variety of explicit methods to teach and target student learning, including multisensory techniques, code-based instruction, and a comprehensive approach. Children will be explicitly taught phonemic awareness and phonics which are foundational reading skills.

What will students learn?

  • Learn the fundamental reading and writing skills of segmenting, blending, and phoneme manipulation.
  • Develop their code knowledge and conceptual understanding of how the code works.
  • Receive targeted instruction and practice based on their individual learning needs.
  • Work both individually and in team situations where they will have multiple opportunities to be motivated and engaged by peers.

“Hop Skip Jump Learning has completely changed the way my daughter is reading and writing. Her development has been amazing and it is thanks to her wonderful tutor Dominique. I am so glad we found Hop Skip Jump Learning and cannot wait to see how she continues to grow.”

“Can’t recommend Skip Hop Jump Learning and Dominique highly enough, especially if you have a child that has additional learning needs that has fallen through the gaps at school. It is a big investment, but knowing we have someone that is qualified, experienced, and is teaching SPELD recommended programs is worth it. It’s been such a weight off my shoulders being able to trust Dominique’s experience to guide us where we need to go. My child is making significant and noticeable progress, and I can’t wait to see where the tutoring will take her.”

“Hop Skip Jump Learning provided expert English tutoring for our son in Year 3. Dominique created a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters a love for learning and personal development. Thank you.”
